SCENOGRAPHY EXHIBITION „PROF. MAYA PETROVA AND STUDENTS“
Prof. Maya Petrova is among the most prominent representatives of the professional puppet theater in Bulgaria. She studied "Puppet Scenography and Puppet Theater Technology" at DAMU, Czech Republic, Prague in 1975 in the class of Prof. R. Linder and Assoc. V. Kabart. In the same year, her teaching career began at HITA "Krastyo Sarafov", where she taught "Puppet Theater Technology" and "Artistic Design of the Puppet Show". Since 1992, she has been the head of the "Scenography for Puppet Theater" specialty at NATFA Kr. Sarafov.
The exhibition presents a rich collection of puppets and scenographic projects from Prof. Petrova’s personal collection, prototypes and puppets from performances that are still performed today on the stages of the Sofia puppet theatre and a number of other Bulgarian theaters. The exposition presents the work of one of the most prominent Bulgarian puppet scenographers, who imposed her own aesthetics and style, which over the years has been recognised as one of the significant achievements of the Bulgarian puppet scenography.
