Through the prism of the Japanese culture and the techniques of the Takeda Marionettes, you have the opportunity to see the story of Ume. No one knows who Ume is and why she is carrying a huge
rice bowl on her head. Only Itharou, the Shogun‘s youngest son, doesn‘t make fun of her and becomes her friend. Trying to break the spell of the bowl, they come across various obstacles. The journey leads them through choices where Ume and Itharou show kindness, honesty, and devotion.
Educational and true, this story teaches us that our happiness depends on ourselves. Enjoy the precision and beauty of the Japanese Puppet Theater and see how the true and pure love can open any door! “The Samurai’s Daughter”, based on the Japanese folk tale “Hime with the big hat”, is designed for both children and adults.
