The Green leads the audience to the brink of the unreal, where the border between reality and delusion is blurred. It takes its starting point from the contemporary feeling of emptiness and combines it with references to spiritualism and magic. The nothingness of an empty stage and green screen slowly turn into a living character that takes over the stage area. Combining stage magic techniques with the latest video and sound technology, the mood of this show without words ranges from the mundane to the abstract and magical.
The work of visual artist, magician and stage director Kalle Nio is a combination of magic, visual arts, cinema, art-history, circus and theatre. In his stage performances he is creating encounters between past and the present, between magic and visual arts, between the high arts and the sideshows, between craft and technology, between real and illusions. He often uses elements from 19th century stage magic as the starting point for his highly visual explorations of human body and human relationships in our society.
